Our Mission

The California Philharmonic Youth Orchestra was established in 2007. Under the baton of Maestro Byung Woo Kim CPYO serves the youth in the South Bay with excellent music. As a non-profit organization, CPYO has a unique mission to use the talents of young people to benefit the community. CPYO continues to be dedicated to developing students’ natural gifts and appreciation for music while providing positive opportunities that will enrich their lives.

We work to foster an environment where students can learn musical excellence, appreciate the arts, creativity, collaboration, leadership, teamwork, compassion and empathy towards one another.

The vision of the California Philharmonic Youth Orchestra is to be recognized as the leading youth orchestra organization promoting quality music education and appreciation within the community we serve. Our mission is to promote musical appreciation and excellence in the youth of the multicultural community we serve through shared musical experience and teamwork to further enrich our community with the love of music.
